TranscriptSAFLEY 3 Aug 3.15
Wakened at 2.45 by non-speaking phone call. Got back to sleep, but unsatisfactorily. Continued Awkward, into final 100 pp. 3.15 appointment with dermatologist Charles Safley. Checked forehead; used nitrogen to freeze rash-like eruptions on forehead; advised seeing optometrist H.T. Grizzard about growth on eyelid – so I made an appointment to see him Monday morning, well out Poplar. “Fat Man” didnt turn out well – too scattered to settle into its subject. Much excitement over Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait. Price of gas jumped at the pumps. Mailed autographed copy of Vol. I to James Cox in response to request from his wife. Also wrote to Richard Ford thanking him for Wildlife. |
