XXX. Back to room; read Times start to finish while waiting for 2 oclock interview with a reporter (Susan Howard) from “Newsday,” a Long Island paper. Turned out to be a large & likable young black woman who was born (like Gwyn’s father) in Alligator, Miss. Lasted 2-4, sitting in coffee shop. Picked up at 4.30 by Mike Virgintino of NY CWRT. Dinner & program at 7th Regiment Armory; large crowd, about 250; successful presentation despite announcement that war had begun with bombing of Kuwait & Iraq. Hugs & I went to a Korean restaurant where I couldnt abide the food. Asleep by 1. War on. |
