TranscriptTook Hugs with me to VA Hospital to see Pete Peterson, who has been there for just over five months since his massive stroke. Half a dozen women – nurses & administrators, only one of them white – were in his room, informing him that he would have to leave by Feb. 15. I agreed to sign his release & commitment so that he can get resettled by then in an “efficiency” apartment & try to make it on his own despite a continuing inability to walk without assistance.
Went from there to Poplar Tunes & got another wall cabinet for storing CDs, plus a couple of new-style 110-mm. metal cassettes, which I used when I got home to make a recording of Chopin’s Nocturnes 1-18, played wonderfully by Claudio Arrau. Watched another of Hugs’ violent, arty VCRs – “White of the Eye.” Continued reading Wolfe. |
