TranscriptDrove out to Rhea & Ivy (6000 Poplar) & picked up our 1989 income-tax forms prepared by Chris Ward. Owed only $54; advance payments are the same as last year – just over $4000 a quarter.
Video Magic; got two cassettes – “Near Dark,” a new film, & “Odd Man Out,” a longtime favorite of mine. Stopped by Seessell’s [sic], got Lite Beer & cereal. Boiled beef for dinner, plus a bottle of the new beaujolais; latter like grape juice, alas. Beer would have been better. “Near Dark” turned out to be a present-day vampire movie. Well-directed, though. Called Pete. Had intended to go see him, but settled for wishing him well. Also called Robert Gooch to thank him for the Civil War issue of “American Heritage.” (Also received one from Richard Snow, along with a note saying he had seen my interview in “Humanities,” which is more than I have done.) |
