TranscriptLOUVRE (1)
Paris; cold weather continues, though not bitterly so. Actually rather pleasant. Left room around 2 oclock, alone. Walked up R. du Roc, then along Quai Voltaire to Pont du Carrousel & across it to the Louvre & its low glass-pyramid entrance. Much trouble finding “Denon” (Egyptian artifacts, etc.) but then I did, in the tea room “Denon” section, which contains hundreds of famous paintings, including the Mona Lisa. Spent two hours there, including lunch, but never did locate the two Vermeers. Must return for their sake & longer tour. In evening we all three went to Pharamond, famous for its tripe á la môde de caen. I had that, also a lobster terrine; both good. Home near midnight after metro ride from Les Halles to St Germaine.
