Lunch in next door coffee shop. Checked out of Algonquin at 2.30; twenty-minute wait for Huger. Left in car at 3; arrived Newark, checked bags, walked around till boarding time at 5.30. Took off on schedule, 6.20, beginning seven-hour flight. Plane about half empty, leaving room to stretch out, but got almost no sleep. 10 Novà Landed Orley at 5.25, ahead of schedule; fast walk through customs, thanks to Huger’s French & his securing of a handler for our bags — 20 ff per bag: total 150 ff ($30). Cab to Pont Royal; checked in by 7 a.m. Room 80, as before. Walked up Blvd St Germaine to Flore for breakfast. Back to hotel; short nap, then early dinner at Brasserie Balzar. Mussels & liver for me, snails & sole for Gwyn, mussels & steak for Hugs. Walked back to Pont Royal. Some jetlag for Gwyn, none for me. |
