Huger — interpreter. My 75th birthday; sunny & bright, beautiful sky, buildings all looking handsome. Never thought I’d make old bones, but I have; I’m happy to be celebrating this day in Paris around all this old world charm. Called & confirmed L’ Aui Louis reservation; thank the Lord for Huger’s fluency in French, which greatly simplifies the problems all around. Lunch again at Le Chai de la Abbaye, third time there. Got Gwyn two “financiers,” in pastry shop & took them back to her. Read & rested till time for dinner. L’Ami Louis — R. Vertrois: huge meal — snails & steak for me, foie gras & chicken for Gwyn & Hugs; puilly-fuissée & Fleurie; armagnac & calvados afterward with coffee. Heavy eating, all down-to-earth good. |
