Paris; cashed another $200. Lunch alone at Flore, then walked over to L’Odeou theater & windowshopped the area until time for my 5 oclock appointment with Mary Kling at La Nouvelle Agence, my French agent. Interest in Shiloh (was being translated by two young men who are peddling it about) is expected to rise when the TV War is shown here in the spring. There is however, small hope that the 3-vol War will be undertaken; too big a job. She gave me the names of editors at Gallimard & Denoel & Julliard to get in touch with, regarding Shiloh & reprinting of Follow Me Down. Cold, alas, coming down on me, inherited from Gwyn: sniffles & the beginning of cough. Early dinner in hotel dining room for the three of us. Back in room, Hugs & I watched TV while Gwyn slept. Cold somewhat worse, but I managed to get a good night’s sleep anyhow. |
